Project "Nature Preserve Cleanup"

Well, I can't say I really did much to complete this project. I have a trail near my apartment complex that leads to a local park and Community Center. I noticed a "Nature Preserve" sign by the trail and thought that it was absurd, being that there was a pile of garbage that had been there for months and there wasn't a stream or fish as the picture on the sign indicated.

After reading the sign, you can see that this "Nature Preserve" is sponsored by NKU (Northern Kentucky University). It's the thought that counts.
Look at the Sunfish. They must have been wiped out by the "Great Kentucky Drought" of 2004.

I thought that if I took pictures of the trash and the sign and went to the organizations that were sponsoring the preserve, and told them that they needed to clean it up or remove the sign, I could get them to clean up the place. I went to the spot one day and took a few pictures. Coincidentally, the following week the trash had been removed.
Here is a shot of the same spot just a week or two after I took the first photos. I thought it was a pretty big coincidence that the garbage was there for months (if not years) and then removed within a week or so after I took pictures of the area. I still don't see the stream and fish however...
As I mentioned before, I lucked out on this project, or the problem just fixed itself before I had a chance to do anything about it. Either way, I witnessed change for the better. Now everyone that walks that trail can enjoy a more scenic walk.
That concludes the first project of Conservatives and Normals . Com. I really didn't have to do much to make a change on this one and I know that future projects are going to be much more difficult than this one. However, this does show that if you get out in your community and start looking at ways to make things better we can make this a better place for everyone to live.
