Why do we have the (what I believe to be) unjustified belief that socialism is bad?  Why do we believe that “Marxism” is bad?  Do most of us even know what true Marxism is?  Click on the following link to learn some Marxism Basics, albeit a biased website.

If you read that page you may find that you had a misconception about what “socialists,” actually believe and that it’s really an educated position.  You may still not agree with the socialist positions, but you have to admit they make some good points!  I just want us in capitalist societies to think a little bit outside the box.  We’ve been conditioned to believe that Capitalism is the best way to run a society and we’ve bought into that idea.  Just as we buy into the idea that “America is number 1!!!”  Number one in what?  Definitely not education… Not imports, exports, jobs, family time, etc.  Do you see where I’m going with this?  Why do we think America’s way of doing things is the best way and all others are wrong?  Maybe because that’s what we’re taught.  Why do you think religious fundamentalists are so willing to blow up themselves to kill infidels?  Because they’ve been taught that they will go to “heaven” and their families will be rewarded.  They are brainwashed from an early age just as most everyone in every country is to some extent.

It’s time to break outside the box and start thinking for ourselves.  Do your own research and come to your own conclusions.  Question everything you believe.  Maybe you’ve already done your research and confirmed your belief on a particular subject.  If so, that’s great!  I just don’t want people to go through their whole lives believing something just because someone else told them that’s the right way to think and the right thing to believe.  Educate yourself and draw your own conclusions.

Obama and McCain… The trilogy

The final debate between Obama and McCain took place last night and I have to say that my decision to vote for Obama has been solidified.  To put it bluntly, McCain scared me.  He is one scary individual.  I would not feel comfortable having another leader in office that cannot control his/her emotions.  Another thing that I found peculiar was that when Obama clearly defined what he was going to do, McCain would come back and say that Obama was going to do the opposite.  Obama would have to iterate on many occasions… “No, please listen when I talk, I said THIS…”  It was like he was debating a 4th grader.  Unreal.

Regardless of who you’re voting for or which policies you agree with, I think we can all agree to this.  Obama definitely behaved in a more “presidential” manner than did McCain and that bestows confidence in him.  People, including other foreign leaders, respect other people that act like adults when confronted with difficult topics of discussion.  We don’t need a president in office that says “Screw you guys, I’m going home,” every time something happens to upset him.

Whether you’re an Obama fan or a McCain fan I think we can all agree that Obama gave better answers and is a better speaker.  When he was asked what order he would put the Economy, Health care, and Social Security when he took office, he put them in order of importance.  McCain tried to take the politician way out and say that he would handle all three at the same time.  He said “we can handle more than one issue at a time.”  Really McCain?  Is that why you suspended your campaign to go “deal” with the bailout issue?  Because you really weren’t handling more than one issue at a time during that period.

One thing I didn’t like was how Tom Brokaw kept whining like a little baby about the 1 minute rule.  How old are you Tom?  How about just saying, “You’re times up,” and then moving on to the next question.  Don’t whine after every answer that is given if they go over the time limit because they weren’t focused on a light system that some dorky IT guy set up.  I think that is another example of how corporations and corporate-minded people are inadvertently trying to phase out the human based aspects of our society.  Just be a human being and talk to me if you have something to say!!! hahaha.  I don’t really want to focus on colored lights when I’m talking about very serious issues.  Wow… I can’t even believe they went through with that setup… And Tom!  Come on guy, you of all people understand human behavior and relationships… did you really think a color light system would work??

Ultimately, I believe Obama was the victor.  He gave more clear and intelligent answers than McCain and he handled the Brokaw and town hall setup fiasco better than McCain.

I think Matt Damon said it best when he expressed his concern about Governor Palin.  He describes McCain’s decision to have Palin as a running mate as a bad Disney movie.

Her idea of foreign policy experience is that her state is near Russia?  Wa wa Whaaat?  Call me crazy but where I come from you actually have to have negotiations, speak with someone, or at least interact with the subject in order to have “experience” with said subject or person.  If McCain and Palin are elected then good luck USA… I will seriously contemplate leaving this country.  If you think the last 8 years have gone well then you’re probably a McCain supporter, but for most of us, the economy is bad and electing McCain will only make it worse for us and for most of our children.  If this upcoming election is not a landslide victory for Obama, then my props go out to the GOP for fooling a lot of people once again!

I’ve decided to continue posting on this site as I’ve gotten some feedback from a few readers that seem to have an interest in some of my posts.  However, with the other things I’ve got going on in my life, projects, work, etc., I will not be able to post very frequently.  I’m moving to a townhouse in Mt. Lookout, OH with a friend this coming weekend but hopefully I can start posting periodically after that.  Happy surfing.
