Banking on a Myth

How Much Have You Invested?

With the price of oil reaching record highs each week, and the cost of goods skyrocketing because of oil prices, weather conditions, and market uncertainty, I’ve started to think a lot about what I’m banking on for the future and why I’m banking on those things.  Do I have a good reason to believe that our economy will continue to grow or will rebound from the situation we’re finding ourselves in?  We’re over 9 trillion in debt and that is increasing by about 1 billion dollars per day.  China is booming however, so what are they doing that’s different from us?  Well, first of all, if you don’t believe me that China is booming, just remember that almost everything we buy or manufacture has a part of China in it.  Also, read this post from John Chow about the city of Pudong… just amazing: The City of The 21st Century.

Now, what are they doing that’s different from us?  A lot… and I’m no expert so I won’t regurgitate information on that matter, but there’s information out there that you can find so you can decide for yourself.  For example, check out this website, which gives an alternate view of China’s economy, with links to other informative material:  China’s Economy

I guess you can look at China’s economy on a macro or micro scale, so depending on what point of view you’re looking at their economy, you can say you would like to live there, or you wouldn’t.  What I do know is this:  It’s a scary time to live anywhere.  We truly need to find a way to develop new alternative energies.  To turn a blind eye to that fact is truly banking on a myth.  We obviously have a limited supply of oil and unfortunately I think we will have to run out of that oil or at least have the supply drastically reduced before everyone realizes the magnitude of the problems that is going to create.

What can you do?  Contact your congressman/woman and tell them that you want investment in alternative fuel research.  Bring this issue to the attention of your friends and family.  Do you know the two times when you think about buying life insurance?  When you almost die, and when someone close to you dies.  Do you know when people think about alternative fuels?  When they have to pay more at the pump, or when the cost of goods goes up drastically.

Let’s not wait until the worst happens.  Start spreading the word and petitioning your elected officials to make efforts for our government to start investing more in alternative fuels.  Most importantly, let people know you are voting for candidates that are dedicated to being proactive instead of reactive.  As I’ve said many times before and will say many times in the future, this world will be a better place when more people get involved and start voting on the issues that truly matter and effect everyone on this planet.  Vote and change the world.

Blogging for a New Generation

Excuse Me, Do You have a Blog?

When thinking about the changes in technology usage over the last 10 years or so, I noticed something interesting: You bought something online. You seem like an intelligent person, I mean, you’re reading this aren’t you? :-) As people become less afraid to look for information online and make purchases online, more people will be using the internet for their everyday needs and to gather information. What does this mean to you and me?

This means that it is the perfect time to start a blog, especially if you have useful information for people. As younger people get older and start to care about the society they live in, or make purchases online, they will inevitably look for answers to their questions online, or buy their products online. I hope to have the answers to a lot of their social and political questions answered, or at least a base for them to begin, within the next 2 years. This website will have many pages or “blog posts” within 2 years so when people search for a key social or political phrase, they will most certainly come across my site. I only hope that in 2 or 3 years time, I will be much wiser and be able to provide even better and more useful information as I continue to research and post on this blog.

I’m blogging for a new generation. Anything worth doing takes a lot of hard work, and you usually can’t see the results for at least a year, if you’re lucky! I know that this blog is going to take a few years before I start seeing good results and start to benefit many people, but I’m well on my way. I already have about 100 unique visitors a day and I just started this blog in April of this year!

What will you do to change the world for the better. Will you blog for a new generation? Do you know what blogging is and the power in a blog? Maybe you’ll start a non-profit organization or just donate your free time to a useful organization. Regardless of what you do, I challenge you to learn something new and work hard to make this world a better place to live instead of doing what some people do and just complain about things they don’t like or that they wish were different. Change the world.

Better People

Good People are the Best

In contrast to my last post entitled “People of the Lie,” I want to write a little bit about good people and share a song with you by Xavier Rudd entitled “Better People.” There are many good people on this Earth and we need to not forget that fact. I believe we attract the kind of people we want to be around on a subconscious as well as conscious level. You’ve probably heard the old saying, “When one door is closed, another is open,” and I believe that statement to hold true. The door is not opened by accident. We make things happen in our lives either out of necessity, with our own will power, or by subconsciously steering our lives in a particular direction.

Do you consider yourself a good person? What acts of kindness and/or sacrifices have you made lately that would justify you saying that you are a good person? Do you believe that a person has to sacrifice and do good deeds in order to be considered a good person? I believe that you have to do some form of good deed in order to be considered a good person. You can’t just sit there, and think that because you’re not harming anyone or anything, that you are a good person. A rock just sits on the ground and doesn’t bother anyone or harm anything, but I wouldn’t consider it a “good rock.” I also wouldn’t consider it a “bad rock.” It’s just a rock. Are you a rock? That statement kind of reminds me of the old Simon and Garfunkel song “I am a rock,” which is pretty funny because that’s not where I intended to go with this post, but I believe the lyrics in that song somewhat back up the point I’m trying to make here. In that song they sing, “I am a rock, I am an island. And a rock feels no pain. And an island never cries.” Those lines are so true. If you distance yourself and become a rock, or an island, you are not helping this world or the people around you. You will not feel pain but you will also not feel the joy of life or make a difference. Good people go out of their way to help make this world a better place to live for everyone. There are many things you can do to make this world a better place to live, such as picking up garbage, reading a book to the blind, or by just donating to this website in order to help me improve the site and write good content and provide answers for people that are looking to make social and political changes.

How are you treating people? Are you selfish? I used to be selfish but I have changed my ways. If you have time, read my post entitled “What’s In It for Me?” to learn a little bit about why I’m finished being selfish. There are better people in this world and as you work to improve your life and help those around you, you will begin to change your course for the future on a conscious and subconscious level. Bad people will start to be removed from your life and replaced with good people. This process may be a painful one because we get so used to our routines and the people in our lives. That’s probably one of the reasons some people stay in abusive relationships, they believe the pain of changing their routine (or partner) will be much greater than making a positive change and leaving that abusive person. I give so much credit and am so amazed when people are able to leave abusive relationships or just make positive changes in their lives such as quitting smoking. If you have done something like what I’m talking about, you should be very proud of yourself.

Take action today and never give up. If you keep paddling up the stream of life no matter what happens to you, you will be amazed at how the bad doors are shut and the much brighter doors are opened. You may even find yourself saying “How did I get here?”, and you will be in a state of bliss because of all of the joy you feel. You knew you were going to make it happen. You made tough changes, helped people, treated people fairly and gave them opportunities to be better people themselves. You may just be on your death bed and be able to say to everyone, “I did my best and helped to make this world a better place to live.”

I want to be able to say that there are better people on this Earth and this Earth is a better place to live, because of you. Thank you; you truly are a good person.
