Better People

Good People are the Best

In contrast to my last post entitled “People of the Lie,” I want to write a little bit about good people and share a song with you by Xavier Rudd entitled “Better People.” There are many good people on this Earth and we need to not forget that fact. I believe we attract the kind of people we want to be around on a subconscious as well as conscious level. You’ve probably heard the old saying, “When one door is closed, another is open,” and I believe that statement to hold true. The door is not opened by accident. We make things happen in our lives either out of necessity, with our own will power, or by subconsciously steering our lives in a particular direction.

Do you consider yourself a good person? What acts of kindness and/or sacrifices have you made lately that would justify you saying that you are a good person? Do you believe that a person has to sacrifice and do good deeds in order to be considered a good person? I believe that you have to do some form of good deed in order to be considered a good person. You can’t just sit there, and think that because you’re not harming anyone or anything, that you are a good person. A rock just sits on the ground and doesn’t bother anyone or harm anything, but I wouldn’t consider it a “good rock.” I also wouldn’t consider it a “bad rock.” It’s just a rock. Are you a rock? That statement kind of reminds me of the old Simon and Garfunkel song “I am a rock,” which is pretty funny because that’s not where I intended to go with this post, but I believe the lyrics in that song somewhat back up the point I’m trying to make here. In that song they sing, “I am a rock, I am an island. And a rock feels no pain. And an island never cries.” Those lines are so true. If you distance yourself and become a rock, or an island, you are not helping this world or the people around you. You will not feel pain but you will also not feel the joy of life or make a difference. Good people go out of their way to help make this world a better place to live for everyone. There are many things you can do to make this world a better place to live, such as picking up garbage, reading a book to the blind, or by just donating to this website in order to help me improve the site and write good content and provide answers for people that are looking to make social and political changes.

How are you treating people? Are you selfish? I used to be selfish but I have changed my ways. If you have time, read my post entitled “What’s In It for Me?” to learn a little bit about why I’m finished being selfish. There are better people in this world and as you work to improve your life and help those around you, you will begin to change your course for the future on a conscious and subconscious level. Bad people will start to be removed from your life and replaced with good people. This process may be a painful one because we get so used to our routines and the people in our lives. That’s probably one of the reasons some people stay in abusive relationships, they believe the pain of changing their routine (or partner) will be much greater than making a positive change and leaving that abusive person. I give so much credit and am so amazed when people are able to leave abusive relationships or just make positive changes in their lives such as quitting smoking. If you have done something like what I’m talking about, you should be very proud of yourself.

Take action today and never give up. If you keep paddling up the stream of life no matter what happens to you, you will be amazed at how the bad doors are shut and the much brighter doors are opened. You may even find yourself saying “How did I get here?”, and you will be in a state of bliss because of all of the joy you feel. You knew you were going to make it happen. You made tough changes, helped people, treated people fairly and gave them opportunities to be better people themselves. You may just be on your death bed and be able to say to everyone, “I did my best and helped to make this world a better place to live.”

I want to be able to say that there are better people on this Earth and this Earth is a better place to live, because of you. Thank you; you truly are a good person.
